Vintage original concert poster for Big Brother and the Holding Company (featuring Janis Joplin) and Jack the Ripper, at the Ark venue in Sausalito California. This is what I believe to be a second printing, based on the subdued purple ink values, and that it shows "1967 Portal Publications LTD" marking in the lower right corner. The first printing wouldn't have that marking, and also has brighter purples, and sells for thousands of dollars. On the back of this poster there is some ink bleed, which is consistent with other second printing posters I have seen. Condition is VG to VG+ with tack holes and corner damage, but otherwise very clean, flat and without fold or crease marks.
Very rare poster, as are most of the vintage North Bay Area concert posters. Big Brother was something of a regular house band at the Ark, and their shows would often occur late at night after the San Francisco Fillmore, Winterland, and Avalon shows were over. This poster is listed in the Art of Rock book as number 2.309. Due to age and condition this ships flat.
