Antique original photograph taken by Zane Grey himself circa 1925, depicting a swirl of blackfish / orca / killer whales. This photo was used as Plate XLI (page 147) for his famous book "Tales of Swordfish and Tuna" which was first published in 1927. This photo comes from the estate of Zane Grey, the reverse has original pre-publication notes written by Zane Grey, as well as some later annotations by his estate in 1991. The front of photo has some crop markings which were done by Zane Grey, and if you look in the Tales of Swordfish and Tuna book this crop was performed exactly. On the lower right side of photo you can see what appears to be drippings on the photo, but this is not damage these are chemical artifacts which occurred in the darkroom. Historic, original, authentic item in great condition.
